Powerhour!
↓An insight into Gabor Eke's powerhour and why it's so important to his workflow and creative practice.

Gabor is our Hungarian Wunderkind and has been kind enough to share some thoughts on his ‘powerhour’ process from his studio in Budapest.
Can you briefly explain what the powerhour is?
Gabor: Powerhour is a creative challenge where you have one hour to create an image. This is the only rule. Unfortunately because of this rule I have many failed attempts where I would run out of time. Luckily these attempts never go to waste and can be used later on as a base for another project.

When did you start the powerhour?
Gabor: Around 2018 my friend suggested we do this challenge to keep ourselves busy while we were waiting on client feedback. After a few of these challenges I quickly realised it would become an important routine in my work. I haven't stopped creating these images since then.
Why is it so important to your workflow?
Gabor: The number 1 reason is because it's fun. For that reason it helps me to stay creative and maintains the fire in my belly for my work. Also I realised I became quicker in my client work and less stressed about deadlines as I became more comfortable creating anything in a short amount of time.

Any advice for generating ideas?
Gabor: The main advice I would give would be to not to overthink it. If you have an idea just jump in and try to create it but always let your imagination take you somewhere else as well. Sometimes the most interesting design is the one you didn't plan so taking that first step and making something is important.
